Quick Vest 2025

This should be a fairly simple cut job for anyone with a length of faux fur that is also as wide as about 3-4 inches more than their widest torso measurement. The reason for the extra is to overlap in the front where the vest will close.

You will lay your fabric out and find the center back line. There's a nice crease in this faux fur that I'm going to use. Divide the widest measurement on your torso by 2 and add 1.5-2 inches. Fold the selvedge to that 1/2 torso + 1.5/2 inch mark.

From here we have a pretty clear right hand front and back so I take the French curve and throw a nice 10-12 inch curve in the front and back. I can style this armhole up and down but for simplicity Im just going to make them about the same.

Then I measure up from where I want the hem to be along the selvedge to the top of the buttons or zipper or whatever I use as a closure. From there I draw a diagonal mark up to about 2 inches away from the centerline towards the side fold.

I cut the shoulders at a bit of an angle tapering towards the neck and sewed along the two shoulder seams. I added some pizazz but it's really just that easy to whip out a simple vest.
